Your Ceremony: Step by Step
Contact Info & FAQ
A multi-faith ceremony performed in conjunction with a rabbi.

I work closely with each couple to insure that their wedding ceremony is uniquely tailored to them, and their day, whether that be traditional or unconventional. The process we go through together usually works as follows:

1. We have an initial telephone conversation to discuss your ceremony. Details that I like to cover: the wedding location, date and time, number of guests, the size of the bridal party, whether you're using a wedding planner, whether there will be a rehearsal dinner, and if so, whether you'd like me to attend. Answers to these questions allow me to plan for the logistics of the ceremony, as well as finalize my fee - which most couples want to know early in the process. Fees usually run $250-750, depending on wedding location and my involvement in the rehearsal.

2. I send you a sample ceremony. This will give you a sense of my general style, but it's only a starting point - the ceremony will be tailored to fit you.

3. If possible, we meet in person. We can then get to know each other better and begin planning the ceremony. If you are located in the Bay Area, I like to arrange a meeting either at my home in Cloverdale, or at the wedding location if it is within 30 minutes of Cloverdale. If you are from out of the area, I always try to meet if you visit the area prior to the wedding, but I have also planned many beautiful ceremonies via email and telephone. This initial meeting usually takes 45 minutes to an hour, and this is also when I will ask for a deposit to book the wedding date.

4. I write your ceremony and send it to you for approval. If another meeting is needed, we'll get together again.

5. The Rehearsal: If you are working with a wedding planner, the planner will usually conduct the rehearsal while I cover the major elements of the ceremony. I usually like to collect the marriage license and the balance of my fee at this time so that there is one less thing to worry about on the day itself.

6. The Wedding Day: On the day of the wedding, I arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the ceremony in order to review any last minute details and work out cues with the musicians and others participating in the ceremony.

7. After the Ceremony: the wedding license is signed and I mail the official copy to the courthouse. I enjoy staying for at least the initial part of the reception to mingle with family and friends.
